The Amazing, Wonderful, Fantastical, Beautiful Flute Part 1

I have been playing the flute for three years now, since the start of sixth grade. Playing the flute has been a special part of my life. I am in my school wind ensemble, and I even got into ILMEA! I have looked back at solos I have done from the start of sixth grade till now. I see so much improvement. My tone is much more pleasant, and my vibrato sounds so much more mature. This goes in showing, how practice really does make things better. What's funny is, at the end of sixth grade, the highest note I could play was a g. But now the highest I an play is a really, really high b natural.

The flute has been proven to benefit the brain, so its not only fun to play but it is good for you too. Physically, it promotes good posture and better breathing. As well as playing the flute, I run too. The breathing the flute taught me, helps me when I run. The flute also relieves stress. During school, the flute would always make me feel happier, and calmer.

Did you know??????

That there are 13 different flute types in the world. I only knew three of them. The common C flute, the bansuri(Indian flute), and the Piccolo(a flute that is very small). All of them sound so beautiful. What differentiates the flutes from each other is their size, range, and tone.

This is part 1 of this 2 post series. : )

Slacker

Slacker is one of my favorite novels by Gordon Korman Cameron Boxer is very happy to spend his life avoiding homework, hanging out with his friends, and gaming for hours in his basement. But one day he almost lets his house burn down while gaming. Oh no..... It's time for some serious damage control and his parents say he has to join an after school club, otherwise they will take away his video games. Then Cameron and his friends invent a fake school club that will make it seem like they're doing good deeds instead of slacking off. There is one problem though. Some kids think the club is real--and Cameron is stuck being president. Soon Cameron is part of a mission to save a beaver named Elvis from certain extinction. Along the way, he makes some new friends--and some powerful new enemies. The guy who never cared about anything is now at the center of everything . . . and it's going to take all his slacker skills to win this round. I love this book because it hila...

Lost in Hollywood

Lost In Hollywood is my favorite book by Cindy Callaghan. Her description of the places Ginger and Payton visited made me feel as if I was there myself. Thirteen-year-old Ginger Carlson feels like she is the only normal one in her family. Her father is an inventor who sells his gadgets online, Mom is obsessed with classic movies, and her brother Grant thinks he is from outer space. Luckily, Ginger has a totally normal BFF, Payton, and they have big plans for the future—they plan to become doctors and open a practice together in a big city. But first, they’re partnering on the state Science Olympics where they’re sure to take home the gold for their eighth grade class with their model of the brain. The Olympics training is interrupted when the Carlson family gets an urgent call that their eccentric Aunt Betty, a former actress who lives in Hollywood, is in serious trouble. The bank is going to take her house unless she can give them the money she owes. The Carlsons head to LA to sort th...
