6th Grade

Knock, knock
Who’s there?
Justin
Justin who?
Just in time to login to school for the day.

I started 6th grade in the beginning of September. Due to remote learning my classes have been taken remotely. In class we learn something new every day. I always wonder how 6th grade would have been if this global pandemic had never happened.

All of my teachers are really friendly and nice. Why did the Chromebook look so sad during math class?Because it had so many problems!! Just like that remote learning can have many problems but my teachers keep me engaged in class lessons or doing classwork. I really appreciate all of the hard work they have done to make 6th grade enjoyable. I enjoy listening to Hoot&Hollers(book talks) in ELA. In science I enjoy playing Blooklet and learning about the mysteries of light. In math I enjoy being able to understand function concepts easily. In social studies I enjoy learning about culture's, similarities and differences. Even though, there is a pandemic, I am still able to interact with my classmates virtually during classes.

I am learning how to play the flute and so far it has been so fun. The notes, flow out of me and many of the songs we are learning are songs from my childhood. In chorus I love singing new songs and doing the fun warm ups.

There are so many fun school clubs to join in school, such as Chess Club, Yearbook Club, Math Club, and Treble Singers. In chess club I would play online chess against many participants. In yearbook club we are creating the school yearbook, with pictures and quotes. Math club has tricky equations to solve with friends. In treble singers I sing songs with lots girls.

Whenever I go back to school I would have a locker, moving from class to class, having shorter lunches and classes, and interacting with new people and my old friends.

For remote learning instead of having all my classes in one day I would split my classes in half every alternating day except Mondays. On Mondays I would have all my classes for 25 minutes. ELA would be 60 minutes on Mondays though. Out of all the classes I have ELA is the longest.

Online school gets difficult at times, since we re looking at a screen for long time each day. That can cause headaches and tiredness, so I try to take breaks when possible. Some things to do when taking breaks, are read book, get a snack, drink water, play with a sibling, and stretching.

This new schedule took a while to get used to, even if I go back to school it will take time to get used to. Overall remote learning has been so exciting even though I am not at school.

Slacker

Slacker is one of my favorite novels by Gordon Korman Cameron Boxer is very happy to spend his life avoiding homework, hanging out with his friends, and gaming for hours in his basement. But one day he almost lets his house burn down while gaming. Oh no..... It's time for some serious damage control and his parents say he has to join an after school club, otherwise they will take away his video games. Then Cameron and his friends invent a fake school club that will make it seem like they're doing good deeds instead of slacking off. There is one problem though. Some kids think the club is real--and Cameron is stuck being president. Soon Cameron is part of a mission to save a beaver named Elvis from certain extinction. Along the way, he makes some new friends--and some powerful new enemies. The guy who never cared about anything is now at the center of everything . . . and it's going to take all his slacker skills to win this round. I love this book because it hila...

Dancing

Youtube Link to my Dance Dance: Kuttunadan Punjayile Sang by: Vidya Vox Danced by: Diya and Isha During the summer Isha and me wanted to do something fun so we decided to do a dance fusion. We combined classical Bharatanatyam with Western dance. We have been taking Bharatanatyam since we were little. It is really fun! We continue to learn it advancing higher and higher after each dance taught. It took us a long time to choreograph it with many obstacles, but at the end it turned out awesome for our first one.  My sister and I learn Bharatanatyam from Guru  Vanitha Veervalli . I hope you like watching it!!!
